7500 HST - Kubota
Any one have this attachment? I'm considering this or a rear pull behind cart for leaves/grass on my 7500. I have TONS of leaves and could really use that grass clippings as mulch in my garden.

Please advise if you can. - and thanks!!!!

I have the 3ph Kubota catcher for my BX2200. It does an outstanding job, however, my lawn is surrounded by oak trees. If I wait and let the leaves get thick, the catcher will get them, but I have to empty the bags more often. The suction ability of the catcher is quite impressive, but the impellars don't chew up the leaves like I thought they would. If I had it to do over, I probably would go with the PTO powered Trac-Vac unit, or even the Agri-Fab pull-behind unit. My dad pulls an Agri-Fab behind his Snapper and it will reduce the leaves to almost powder. I think the Trac-Vac is around $2200 . My dad gave around $900 for his Agri-Fab. I paid $1650 for my catcher last year. Once the catcher is attached, the lift arms on the 3ph are by-passed. Keep that in mind if you do lots of implement swapping.

Kevin,

Just so you know, the catcher for the B7500 is a lot different than the one you have for your BX. The blower is not in the rear but rather attaches where clippings are discharged from the deck. It is also powered off of one of the mower heads rather than the rear PTO. Lastly, the bagger portion mounts on a bracket on the rear of the tractor and does not use the 3 pt hitch at all. I sure would like to know why Kubota made them so different.

Jeff,

The deck on the 7500 rolled on the ground so it would carry the weight of the blower. The BX floating deck was the reason for no deck powered unit. The added weight would put the deck out of balance, thus the PTO powered unit.

FWIW,
Michael

KevinKubota,

I'd bet the 3600 RPM of the other units is what mulches the leaves. The BX unit runs at 540 off the PTO with two 1:1 gearboxes. The blower unit is large enough to handle the MMM deck volume quite nicely I expect.

Happy mulching,
Michael
