Kubota M9540 HD 4x4
I am modifying my M9540 grill to keep limbs from damaging the front of my tractor. I am using a Lincoln sp 175 mig using CO2 for gas. Been using this machine for several years with no problems, but today when I pull the trigger I hear the gas come out for few seconds and then gas barely comes out. I can let go of trigger and the same thing happens. Any suggestions?

Sounds like low supply pressure, did you check the gauges ?
I am looking at doing the same to my M85, post some pictures.

Gauges appear fine and pressure remains at 18 psi.

Would have posted in the welding forum, but I orginally posted with my blackberry and the welding forum wasn't an option. Anyway, don't see why it matters. I thought it fit into the customization forum since I am customizing my grill.

Did you check the tip to make sure the gas passages are clear?

Yes, even unscrewed the brass tip to make sure. Gas comes out like it is supposed to at first and gradually goes to almost none at all.

Sounds like dirt in a orifice, try blowing back through the line.

You have either a restriction in the line, maybe a kink in the line OR a bad regulator or gas flow valve. Try removing the regulator and check the inlet to the regulator. Most have an inline filter that may have some trash built up although I have no idea how trash could get into the regulator unless you left it off the tank and spiders or dirt dauber got to it. You could unhook the line directly from the regulator and see if the flow is good, if so it is in the machine. Could be your contactor is not opening the shut off valve completely. I would start at the bottle and work my way forward disconnecting at each point to verify flow then see where it stops flowing at. Process of elimination.

I think that is normal. When you pull the trigger, the built up pressure releases and then the normal flow which wont be as much, prob cant be heard. I guess i should say that is how our 2 welders are and both work fine.
