Do any Kubota dealers (Messicks, Barlows, etc.) sell new Kubota implements at a discount? I want to buy a front blade and subframe for my BX 1860 but hate to pay the $2000 plus list price.

You might get lucky and find a dealer with a used implement or a slightly used one at a discount, but in my experience I haven't found a dealer yet that offers discounts. When I was searching for a backhoe thumb, I called every dealer in this state and the price was the same almost everywhere, then I was told there is a set "bottom dollar" amount for Kubota implements and if a dealer lets one go for less.....they eat the cost. For instance: The thumb I bought was 475.00 at almost every dealer. Some wanted 500 or 520.00 for the same thumb. The thumb costs the dealer around $425 to $430, and then when you add shipping (40 to 50) the price averages 475. I found that many dealers ask more so that they "make a small profit for their trouble", but most kept the cost at 475. If you happen across a dealer that DOES offer discounts I would like to know. I'd be willing to bet I'm not alone! I even searched the internet for coupons at one point!!! no such luck. :( :smurf:

Usually the shipping for an implement will destroy the discount if your not buying from somewhere/someone that you can pick it up yourself. I believe Barlows discounts implements as well as the deep discounts on tractors. It may be worth checking and if they are delivering/picking up a tractor near you the shipping could be cheaper.

Dealers at times offer a small percenage off on attachments but not a lot unless packaged together with the tractor purchase. Keep checking craigslist.com in your area.

Very few implements are actually made by tractor manufacturers, so you're often paying more for the name. The sub-frame is something I would buy direct, but the other stuff can usually be sourced elsewhere for less, at equal, or higher, quality.

I would check with all the local dealers and see who has the best price. They may have a blade used even.

You could modify truck blade to fit the front of a BX.

I am not sure what a MK Martin Blade would cost.

Not to disagree here but just remember the seller does need to 'make a small profit" or why would/could they be in business. I like searching out bargains too but don't complain when your local dealer goes **** up because it's local customers saved $10 going online. This is where we are headed. But then again, I guess we don't need their valuable service as we can also go online to get customer support like here on TBN! I am missing the local speciality shops and the experts that are behind the counters. Sorry, just getting a little nostalgic here.

I always tell my Dentist, car/truck dealers and tractor sells that I don't mind one bit for them to make a profit but I do resent them making enough off of me to cover one whole day of overhead expenses, to spread it out over all of the customers and I won't complain.
One can also look at a $20 or $50 or $100 bill laying on a table and you and a retailer are both standing there looking at the $20, 50,100. Who picks it up and walks away. OK, they do and you say OK.......but, when it's your $20, $50, $100 is it OK for them to always be the one to pick it up and walk away. When I work for it and it then becomes mine I then decide who/where/when I'll let someone else have it and under what circumstances/conditions/reasons/value rec'd.
Some/many people go into business thinking they can get rich and it rarely happens and some people need to work for others and not start their own business, they just aren't suited for self employment. I've been a Gvmnt worker and owned/own some businesses. I much prefer the guaranteed paycheck of an employee over self employment headaches but alas I do/have done the self employment over the years but it's not my favorite way to make a living. Some people just aren't cut out for running a business themselves and not convinced I want to pay their way to stay in a business where they shouldn't be.
