What do I need to know about this tiller?
I normally don't like to buy anything that I'm not pretty familiar with. But I did it here. I have very little experience with tillers in general and know absoutely nothing about this particular model. I searched this site for "Kubota Tiller" before making the drive and found that most people think that Kubota makes a high quality tiller. There aren't many around, though.
After driving over an hour to look at the advertised $650.00 48" Kubota tiller, I found that it was really about 48" overall width and maybe 36"-40" cutting width. I took my smaller Kubota 7100 with me to check it out, and it appeared to work fine except for 3 of the 28 tines were missing. Depth (cutting) adjustment appears to be only from the 3pt hitch as there are no skid plates (doesn't look like there ever were...).
I talked him down a little on the price, but not much. I originally thought I got a "good" deal, but now I'm thinking "fair" deal. Or worse. Thoughts?
