kubota l175
Hi All-

I picked up an older Kubota L175 last year, and have recently been having quite a bit of trouble with it. Previous owner seems as though upkeep wasn't high on their priority list! So far, I've already had to have the fuel pump, fuel injectors and lines replaced. Up next on the list is having the clutch adjusted, as the machine will only run in low right now.

I'm thinking, now, before I even get to that, I'm going to have to adjust some hydraulic issues. Running the machine last night, I noticed there was a bit of hydraulic fluid leaking from the lines running back to the backhoe attachment (everything runs off the main hydraulic reserve, not the reserve on the backhoe itself). When I tried to run the backhoe, there was a spray of fluid from the bucket cylinder. I'm a novice when it comes to tractor maintenance, but pretty handy. My thoughts were to replace the hoses, as a few of them are starting to look a bit worn. I'm sure there is a far better solution, I just don't know where else to begin. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

The spray of fluid may be under high pressure and could be injected into your skin. Becareful when locating the source of the leak. A piece of cardboard held near the leak makes a good replacement for your hand. The fittings on the bucket cylinder do take some abuse. The hoses on a tractor this old have been replaced before, most likely. My 245DT backhoe runs a pump off the rear pto, it is a Kubota brand. The front loader uses a pump mounted on the front of the engine. The tractor uses the main hyd. for power steering. I do not see how the tractor has enough flow on its own to run a backhoe. Your tractor uses a screen to filter the hyd fluid and this should be changed as well. You have purchased a well made little tractor and should know that these first tractors helped make the Kubota popular.

It is a great little tractor- just has issues from not being maintained. The Hydraulic set-up leaves a bit to be desired; the original pump that ran off the PTO had been removed, and the BH now runs off the front pump and hydraulic tank.

I looked around a bit, and think I have found the problem (or problems as the case may be!). I'm assuming the hoses are not run correctly in several areas, as when the BH is operated, they are nearly continuously pinched between the cylinder and the side housing. They've worn very thin in several areas, resulting in the spray i'm seeing.

So I think I'm back to my initial plan of re-hosing the tractor. Does anyone happen to have a diagram or manual showing the correct placement of hoses on a K-650?
