Kubota L175 steering box

I recently replaced the steering box on my L175 (note: water does not work well for lubrication in winter). Got everything together and working, then noticed in the repair manual it says to seal between the box and the clutch housing with liquid gasket. I didn't notice any sealer on the old box, so I put it together the same way. Just curious if anyone here had any insight on this, is it worth pulling it apart to put the liquid gasket on? The only problem I could see is water seeping through.
