I choked stopped the tractor a week ago. When I could not get it to do anything, I called in the service tech from the dealer. He check the 3 month new battery and said it was not as good as it should be, but not bad. We looked at the slow blow fuse, it was slightly corroded, but not blown. He said it was ok, not great. He did some trouble shooting and said the safety switch was not engaging. I watched him by-pass it and he got it started. I carefully adjusted the safety and got the tractor started three days in a row. Fourth day left the tractor to stand. 5th day went out and nothing. No lights to indicate key was being turned to pre-heat (hardly necessary when the ambient temp is 90). No click for the starter. Nothing.
Any suggestions?

Check the battery voltage. If it is 12V check the wiring, specifically the connection of negative to the tractor frame and/or engine. It is usually connected somewhere near or on the starter. If the battery is dead it is possible that something is draining the battery when the key is off. The battery is new but might be defective. If you get it running check the charging voltage it should be about 14.5V.

What do you mean" I choked stopped the tractor a week ago". There is no choke on a diesel. You stop the engine by cutting off the fuel.

Make sure the battery terminals are free of corrosion and tight, check the ground connection to the chasis to make sure it's tight and not rusty. Check the wiring to the starter solenoid. the interlocks generally allow current to energize the starter solenoid which then puts full battery current to the starter motor. You have a series of interlock switches that need to be closed to get current to the starter. Look in the owner's manual to find out where they are and then check the wiring to them and make sure they are adjusted properly. There is usually one on the clutch or the transmission to make sure you can't start in gear. Another is on the seat to make sure you are in the seat when you start the engine. Another maybe on the PTO lever to make sure that the PTO is off before you try a start.

Thank you! Red Neck in Training! I checked through all the points and every thing looked good, and went back through all the previous and found the slow blow fuse, blown.
I made it down, today, to the dealer before they closed to get the fuse. I hope tomorrow to get it installed and try again!

Thank you Jerry/MT.
I learned that I don't know the terminology. I killed the engine when I was distracted and let out the clutch, with loader and box scraper down, and low rpms.
I will look at all the points that you have called out and make sure the connections are good.
Yes I did check the PTO, and I never start the tractor without sitting on the seat. Both connections are good.
I have purchased a new slow blow fuse today. If the slow blow fuse doesn't solve the problem then I will be looking at the starter solenoid.
Battery is new with the date of last month. I purchased a meter to read the battery so I can see if the battery is getting recharged.
The tractor is fifteen years old without any problems to this point. Its had all of the maintenance required in the owner's manual. I don't have the detailed parts manual which illustrates all the the connections, but I've traced the ones I can see out, and everything looks good and solid.
Tomorrow is another day to use it, as I use the tractor daily...

So you stalled the tractor and killed the engine.

Check those switches with your voltmeter to make sure when you are in the seat you have battery voltage on both sides of the switch and when the tractor is out of gear there is battery voltage on both sides of the switch., etc
