I have this used tractor for the last couple of years. It run ok. I tried to do normal maintenance, per specs. It has 1,400 hours (I probably put myself 300 hours). I have a few problems, which might nor might not be related.

1. In time I lost power in the loader: I mean, I could not lift the bucket when fully loaded. I thought the control valve for the loader (LA 480) needed new seals. I order new kit for that and replaced per manual. But the problem is still there. No leaks. I changed the oil in the entire system (almost 10 gal), and filter. Same result, the bucket barely lifts from the floor.

2. Recently I found that I need more rpm to achieve the same power, regardless of speed. I remember that in the past, very rare that the rpm reached 2,000, but now I must rev the acceleration to get enough power. What does it mean?

I'm a new tractor owner, mechanically inclined, but with very little background in tractor assembly/dis-assembly. I read lot of articles here about transmission, clutches, etc, but I do not know if my problems are showing the same symptoms like in those messages.

Any help is greatly appreciated (besides going to the dealer). Source for parts, manuals, advice, anything. Thank you so much.

Does your tractor have any metal mesh filters? The pdf attached shows a filter from a L3410 HST. The filter is part 030 (not 070). Externally it just looks like a large bolt head. Some tractors have one of these each side of the tranny case. One filter supplies oil to the HST. The other supplies oil to the loader etc. My old 1550 has both filters. This L3400 only has one such filter. Some later tractors don't have any of these types of filters and rely entirely on screw-on oil filter cartridges.

Anyway, if you have one of these metal filters and its blocked it can starve the system of hydraulic oil and bring your tractor to a halt. The filters are easily cleaned with degreaser and gentle use of a wire brush. (Made a huge difference to mine.)

But I don't know if you have any of these filters. You'll have find out by talking to a dealer or looking under the tractor. It will just look like a large bolt head going into the end of an oil pipe. (Its called a banjo fitting). Or maybe a reader with the same tractor knows the answer.

This site has free parts manuals. Not one for your model unfortunately but you might find something similar...
