Kubota L2900
I have put 20 hours on the used Kubota L2900 I bought last September. I was really set on buying a HST tractor, but this one came along and was in mint condition. I figured the GST trans would be an OK compromise and for the most part it has been working out fine. My question is how to manage the throttle speed. The tractor has a lever on the column and a foot pedal. I have been keeping the column throttle at minimal setting, about 800 rpm. I then use the foot throttle to rev up to accommodate the work at hand. The only time I raise the column throttle is when I need a fixed rpm to run the backhoe. I am curious how other L2900 owners work the throttle.

You are using it correctly. I believe the manual adjustment also is used for stationary implements on the PTO like generators, large water pumps, and portable sprayers. I also have a backhoe on my L-35 Kubota, and idle power gives the perfect speed for the hoe to prevent banging around at higher RPM.

You're doing just fine. The hand throttle is used a lot when tilling, mowing or doing other field work. You would set it to PTO speed and select the gear to go the proper speed. For chores with the FEL or backhoe, low hand throttle and using the foot is great.

(Technically, it's isn't a throttle as a diesel has no throttle.)
