I noticed the L3240 is not on their website. I was looking at a B3300SU but am now leaning toward a L3200, L3240 (if available) or L3400. Any thoughts on which one would be the best? I have 6 acres with a lot to do. I need a 4WD, HST, FEL, box tiller, box blade, auger and bush hog. I just don't want to have to tackle a project and not have enough tractor. I will be cutting a new driveway (over 400', possibly 800' if I do a circle drive), eventually tilling and leveling my whole property and tons on landscaping projects. I also will be bush hogging and tilling gardens on the side to make extra money. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If I'd known more about what to look for in a tractor before got mine ,and had the extra cash I'd gone with at least a 3940 or a 4240 ,better to have a little more than not enough . I found out that it's not just hp ,it's weight, pto speed, the size of attachments you want to run, tires, how much you can lift ,and the biggest thing is what your planning to use it for. I guess I have to say only a couple of times have I thought I should have gone bigger , but the deal was too good to pass up.
That said, I wouldn't give my 3240 up for my left n... well maybe if it really was on the line .

Not sure which website you were on but I just checked two Kubota websites and they both listed the L3240.As far as the tractors go,weight is probably as important,if not more, than horsepower and the L3240 is the heaviest of the tractors you mentioned.I have an L3240 and find it is capable of doing a lot of work but sometimes wish it had more power.I think it is common knowledge that the L3240 is on the lower end of power to weight for a tractor. If possible I would recommend you look at the L3940 or even the L4240.The L4240 comes with a stronger loader.I realize you can always go bigger and have to draw the line somewhere but in hindsight I wish I had gotten a more powerful tractor than my L3240.Because I am probably 75 percent into the work I have to do I will stay with the L3240 as it does get the job done and it would be too expensive to trade up now for the amount of work I have left.Just my :2cents:

Of those mentioned, my choice would be the 3240. My preference would be the 3540 as the added cost should not be too bad. A step up into the 3940/4240 is going to be pretty pricey.

There is always the temptation to "go big" and oftentimes it works out, we began looking at a 3240 and bought a 50 HP and are sure glad we did, but our needs and acreage are different than yours. First one raises some good points, look at your needs, weight, power, attachments, tasks and go from there. As has been said before "bigger isn't always better, sometimes it's just bigger". We have tractors from 23 to 85 HP and they all have their place.

Thanks for everyones replies. I'm on my way to the dealership to see what he has on the lot. I'm wanting to test drive and check his prices so I can go price checking with other dealers.

Always a good idea, you might want to check what is available for rent locally and get a good day in doing real world stuff to get a baseline for comparison.

I rented first and found the L3200 I was thinking about was physically too small for me to be comfortable......I fell into a really good deal on a L5740 so i bought more than I needed. If you are close to buying ask the dealer if he can search for New old stock tractors that are new but been on dealers lots for months or even years....saves you lots of bucks my 5740 was delivered dec 2008 I got it sept 2011 for alot less :D

I have six acres. I just bought a new L3240. I do very little plowing these days. I do not do much mowing anymore either. I needed a tractor to replace a MF231, which was a great tractor. I gave up a 37 HP tractor for a 34or 32 HP tractor (not sure how it is interpreted). The weight between the MF231 and the L3240 is reasonably close. I originally had a 27 HP Ford back in the 1980's but had to get one heavier for my needs. I had a knee replacement in 2010 and found I now have trouble using the clutch. The HST works well for me and my needs.

Yes the weight is there! That was something I needed. The HP is enough for what I use a tractor for. I needed a heavier compact tractor. The L3240 fits that need for me. I use it to move dirt around, filling up washouts that happen at some places on my property, from time to time. I also use it to move 1000 pound rolls of hay from a shelter to a feed area for my cows.

If I were doing a lot of plowing, or mowing I would have opted for a larger tractor with more HP. It all comes down to what you plan to us a tractor for, IMHO.

It all comes down to what works best for you.
