Tractor
1952 Ford 8N
I am comparing these 2 Jd tractors about the same price i can get both for about $21,500 ea with loader. Or the Kubota with loader for around $17,500. Does anybody have any imput on these prices. All tractors are hydro and 4wd. Anyone with any imput about these tractors. All the info would help. This is my first post but I have veiwed this site for 3 years now and want to up grade to a better tractor than the 8N. I will be doing some farm work and lightly tree harvesting on my property. Used mainly for snow removal and odds and ends loader work. Thanks Ryan

Nice tractors. Pretty good price on the L3400. If money is a key consideration, you might also want to look at Kioti and Manhindra. The CK35 is about the same as the L3400, but costs less due to free loader being offered right now.

I noticed you mentioned loader work... Be sure and compare the loaders abilities and particularly lifting numbers.. I had a L3400GST, had it been hydro. I might have kept it, or a least it would have made my decision more difficult. The FEL was not up to my expectations for the jobs I was doing..

Good luck.... Chuck.

I have a fleet of the major brands Orange, Green, and Blue and like all of them. However, in a farm environment where there are "critters" around that can get into your wiring and instrument panel for lunch, I would consider the Orange for reliability, unless they have addressed these issues since the year 2000? The JD's provided lunch on the exposed wiring harness on the engine, and the New Holland had the circuit board for the instruments destroyed by rats, that cost $$$ to replace the circuit board only! In the 30 yrs. of Kubota ownership, I have had no problems with any of these issues.

I would have the dealership un-button the cowling and let you look for exposed wiring if you face the same type environment. I tried poison pellets, etc. but there were still problems, plus they nested there too!

Chuck K. Thanks for the input on the FEL for the L3400 I have been looking at loader info very closely the L3400 is only rated for about 1100lbs. But the JD is at 1500lbs. machmeter62 that is a good tidbit about animals will take note to that because when it gets cold in ny then the animals look for a warm place like in the warm engine. Keep the post comming I was hoping to hear more from JD owners.

I think I would check around on the 3320 Deere price it seems high compared to what I paid last year, I think I was closer to $18,500.00 with Ehydro r-4's and Imatch and 300x loader. MH

both great tractors

Put moth balls under the hood. That'll keep rodents out.

I don't think the 3320 and the L3400 are in the same class, In my opinion. And what I mean by that is fit and finish. I started out looking at the L2800 compared to the 3203. I think that JD model was to compete with teh L2800 and L3400.

I've been shopping the last 2 months and have settled on the Grand L series of Kubotas. I started out looking at the JD's and actually demo'd a 3520 with 300X, EHydro for a weekend. Great tractor but didn't have the physical size I wanted. When the physical size went up so did the $$ and the hp. I was also looking at Cabs and JD didn't offer the Cab is some of the lower 4XXX series.

The HST+ on the grands had everything the JD didn't that I wanted. The auto Throttle response, and a mode that incorporates anti stall (load match) and the H-DS makes the 3 range a 6 range and life a breeze.

I looked at the NH's last and it also was lacking these features. It was more in the physical size matched with the right hp that I was looking for at about the same price as the JD.

One thing that I notices was the Kubota's were cheaper, and the fact the dealers stock more provided me with more choices from the pre price increase. It's seems all three have recently went up.

A bit off track, but I guess what I'm saying is the JD you are comparing is a nicer tractor overal to the L3400. Apples to oranges. I would think the 3203JD would compare better to the L3400. But I've seen 3 dozen tractors since I looked at those so I might be a bit cloudy right now.. haha

You are right Brahmus about this comparison. I talked to a few JD dealers and they say i will not be happy with this tractor the 3203. I made some more calls to check i can get
4105 with FEL 73" bucket hood guard, ballast box, R4s and block heater for $20,800. That is best deal going. I am wondering about the actual size of this tractor compared to the 3320 which i do like and think it would be easier to get around the woods. Now comes to kubota 4240 for $23,000 with FEL R4 loaded tires. They are too hard to compair very different tractos.
