I have an L3700SU, but am not aware of a shutoff valve. Would guess if it has one and you did not turn it off then it is not likely to have done it by itself.

I would look at fuel and filters first. How long does it run before dying? How hard is it to crank and fire?

As we do in my line of work when diagnosing computers, when did it last run right and what has happened since then? (What did you fix? ;) )

good advice ,think it must have a cut off, as it turns off with a key ! havent fixed""" anything . will have to tow it out and have a good look . was hoping someone knew of the location , as its wedged in by pallets on the forks etc and cant really get a look . thanks Bob :ashamed:

It will have a fuel cutoff solenoid. It is all electronic. It is possible that could be the problem.

To cover the basis though,

How old is the tractor?
Warrenty?
How many hours?
Did you run it completely out of fuel?

Not sure about your tractor, but my L4400 has a latching type fuel solenoid... meaning you hear an audible click when you turn the key on, (that is the solenoid being energized...) that moment, the solenoid is being latched in the run position mechanically.
Once it latches, power is removed and the mechanical latch holds it in the run position.
When you get ready to shut the unit off, power is once agian applied and the latch is tripped, moving it to the fuel off position.
Does the tractor shut off like you turned the key off, or is it stumbling/fuel knocking and trying to run but just dies? If its doing any of the latter, I would do as others suggested, look at the fuel supply system.
If its dying like you turned the key off, look into the electrical system.
