Sounds like a nice package. The L-3400 is a price tractor and although it is very well featured it still won't give you what the L-3130 will other than more horsepower. The grand L has some extra features you might like as well as transmissin options.

I test drove the 3400 and liked it, but the heavier L3130 won over, especially since I was already used to the HST transmission. I gravelled a new exercise area at my kennel and I don't know if a gear transmission would have let me creep my way between some fencing I didn't want to remove. Very tight squeeze and the clutch of a gear drive would have gotten some serious feathering, which can't be good for long life.
The dealer told me the 3130 would outpull the 3400 because it is a bigger and heavier unit. If you see them side by side you'll see where the extra money goes besides all the nice to have features.
I'm very happy with my Rhino SE5, also.

Don't know much about the 3010 or what your intended uses are but I recently got an L2800 and have found the power and features more than adequate. I've been digging out stumps with a backhoe and tearing up sod and moving piles of soil with the FEL and the machine is under-challenged. The loader is so strong you have to take care not to do too much too fast (read: damage something you didn't mean to) and it pushes like a tank. It basically crawls in 1st gear/low and is very maneuverable. The gear tranny and shuttle shift have become second nature and are not inconvienient at all. Ive heard that geared units last forever (more or less) and eat up less HP than HST. If I were a landscaper I'd probably pay the extra for HST because time is money, and ham-fisted operators might chew up the gears and clutch, but I'm not a landscaper. My dealer pointed out to me that a dual stage clutch, like the L3400's, is much more expensive to rebuild than a single stage like the L2800's, if you can live without a live PTO, which I can. Also, the 2800 will be more stingy on fuel. As a newcomer to tractor use, I've asked alot of questions and used common sense to sort the opinions and made my choice -- and I'm not sorry! Good luck!

Sure it would, thats what low range is for.. No clutch slipping needed
Most current gear drive compact tractors in low range 1rst gear can idle along a near to a dead stop if you need to.

I paid $19,750.00 for the tractor with FEL and a BushHog 650 BH. In my post here on this question I stated that this machine was more than adequate for my needs, but alot of seat time and work done has changed that opinion, as I have posted elsewhere. If I could have a "do over" I'd go bigger with HST. BUT... the machine does work very well, was certainly a better choice for me than something smaller, and will still do all of the work I need (alot of digging and ground shaping); I would just like to do it faster.

I compared the 3400 to my Cub and except for a couple more HP, the Cub outspecs it in every category. I think the 3o series would be a better upgrade for me. Thanks for replying!

I read somewhere that Kubota is coming out with a 3400 with HST, in case that interest you. Good luck...it is an equally confusing decision for me, expect I am looking at the B series.
