Kubota L3540
I'm interested in purchasing a new Kubota L3240 HSTC or the L3540 HSTC. I'd like the following options:

LA514 front loader with 66" square back bucket
rear hydraulics
cab options: rear windshield wiper, rear window defogger and rear work lights

Anyone have an idea what a reasonable price would be for such a purchase.

I cannot answer the price question, but I would highly recommend adding a quick attach option to the FEL. Even if you don't think you'll need it immediately it is a very nice option to have... Fork really come in handy and it takes more time to mount and dismount the tractor than it does to hook up the attachment using the QA. Might also consider the heavy duty bucket versus the square back.

Good luck with the purchase and enjoy!

Price I can't say either, but if I had to choose I'd go with the L3540 if the price was not that much of a differences . I got the L3240HSTC . I love it and it has been a great tractor , still at times surprises me with what it can do .
If you were going with one of them also look into , the 724 loader ,you can do so much more with it,quick attach option , rear remotes, maybe get it plumed to be able to run front att. loaded rear tires, sometimes better to try and get a deal on this up front.

If I was to look at getting another (wife says FAT CHANCE OF THAT) than I'd go with at least the L3940hstc or the L4240hstc , better to have more hp than not enough as I'm finding out . I think that you can go to Kubota on line and they have a build your tractor and what it might run you.

I would suggest you go with the wider bucket. Unless there's a reason why you'll want to keep your wheels in the narrow position I think you'll find it nice to have the bucket as wide as the rear wheels. Also I would go with the 3540 as the 3240 is right at the bottom end of what you'll want in this size tractor.

Definitely consider the LA724 loader. If you go that route, then also consider the 6' wide, HD bucket. It's wider than the outside track of my R1s, which allows me to drive into what I've scooped out - very handy at times. I have the L3240 and run out of traction much more often than I run out of power, even when heavily ballasted. If you will be running a 6' brush hog in thick, tall grass, or other 6' PTO attachments, then seriously look at the 3540 or 3940.

You haven't told us what you plan to do with your tractor - that would help us speak more to your needs; not our needs. For example - I chose the L3240 because it's almost too big for my place, but it's the smallest rig that I could safely put a 9' hoe on.

x4 on the 724 loader. MUCH better lift capacities. The 514 isnt much of a bump over the loaders on the economy (much cheaper) L3400/L3800.

Gotta go with the general concensus here, put your money into the LA724 loader with a quick attach rather than the 3 extra horsepower. The versatility of the HST+ will easily compensate for the slightly reduced power level. That package with a Woods 72" HD QA bucket would sell here in New Hampshire for a bit less than 33K depending on the other options. If you are paying cash there is an additional $1000 CIR that can be deducted. You'll love it!

Having owned a L3130 and now a L4240 HSTC.......if you are getting a cab,go with the L3540 and the 724 loader.Same frame size...if you go to the L3940,it is the same frame size as the L4240,the L4240 has the 854 loader. On the cabs the AC eats a little power in the summer.Either way the HD round back bucket and the QA are the way to go.

Yep, pretty much agree on that. My wife and I started out looking at the 3240 and wound up with a used 5030 and sure are glad we went bigger with the cab.
