Hello everyone
I would welcome any input on the following situation. I am looking for something that will haul round bales (4x5), Rake hay, and do general odd jobs/clean up.

I have 2 tractors I have looked at heavily (I actually have looked at about every brand with exception of the JD. No particular reason I haven't looked at them yet though either).

I found a used CaseIH DX35, 300 hours for 19,000 LX116 loader No QA bucket, overall very good shape, Garage kept. OVerall I really like the tractor. I am a red in the shed guy with 3 other CaseIH tractors. The dealer won't budge on the price though and I just feel it is a tad high. Any thoughts on that price?

Next I have been eyeing an L3540. I have a price of 24500 on it with LA724 loader has QA Bucket. the dealer tells me the hydro tranny is unsurpassed. He was showing me the reaction time dial and general features.

I can get 0% for 60 on the kubota, 4.5 on the used CaseIH.

neither has a rear remote which I want added period. I need at least one for the hay rake.

Basically I was hoping to put down around 6000 and stay around a 200 payment. Neither gets me there of course. the CaseIH will get me closer though.

The Case dealer tells me that is bottom line price. The Kubota dealer hasn't been "beat down" yet! Maybe tomorrow though! don't know if I can get more out of it or not.

Looking at the Kubota website is the L3540 a discontinued model? I don't see it on the site but I may be mistaken.

thank you for any thoughts or comparison!

The L3540 is not discontinued. Go to Kubota Tractor Corporation. Click on "Products" > "Tractor", on the next page click on "L series." At the "L Series" page click "Grand L40." Once you are at that page with the big "L," click on "Specifications" and you will see the L3240 specs come up. Click "Next" to see the 3540 specs. You can also click on the "Grand L40 Series Specifications" to open the PDF file that shows all the L series tractor specs.

The Case DX35 is a very good tractor. You have a 2 range HST with a high/low for each range, very good engine and the ergonomics on that tractor are excellent.

The Kubota 3540 is also a very good tractor. The HST on the tractor is superior as you have a 3 range HST with a high/low for each range, load sensing, HST response control and auto throttle advance. In addition, the tractor has a little more lift capacity at the 3PH and a very good engine.

Tough call, but if you can swing the extra dollars, you might be better off with the Kubota in the long run.

I don't know much about the Case but I can tell you that the Kubota's HST+ transmission is the best out there. With it's shift on the fly high/ low range mated to it's 3 speed transmission gives you 6 speeds. For loader work it's a huge time saver. The Kubotas tend to be light so you'll need to add weight or have an attachment on the rear to use the loader.

You haven't mentioned hours on the Kubota, but you did mention the financing, so I'm guessing the Kubota is new. I'd say with a new tractor warranty and newer technology, the Kubota is easily my choice. Is the QA loader a Kubota QA or skidsteer universal QA? I'd go back to the Case dealer and tell him that I'd offer $17k top dollar or else I was going to buy a new Kubota with full warranty and more features than his tractor. If he won't budge, then I'd start looking for things that match the new orange paint I'd have in my barn.;)

I also assumed new since he said 0% financing. It sounds like the dealer is unwilling to deal but I would also tell him the fact that for not much more I can get a brand new Kubota.

For $24,500 I think you could either get the rear remote thrown in for free or get another $500 to $1k off that price.

Don't know much about the Case DX35 but do know about the Grand L 3540 as I have one. As others have said the 3 range high or low HST and the auto throttle advance is one nice tranny. Three point lift is stronger then the Case and the LA 724 loader is going to lift those 4X5 bales with ease. I'm not saying anything bad about the Case, I just don't know about them. Good luck with you choice.

Hi Guys,

yes Kubota is New, just a few hours.

It is a skidsteer universal I believe. has the 2 lifting arms on the bucket. looks liked skidsteer to me? I wasn't aware there was a difference between Kubota and skidsteer.

The Kubota dealer called and gave me a bottom line of 23600 today. I haven't talked to the case dealer but I agree he needs to come down to make me want to go that way since the price difference is less and less between new with full warranty etc.

I thank you guys for opinions on the tractors. We'll see how it turns out soon!

Thanks

$23,600 sounds like a pretty good price. Let us know how it turns out.

There isn't, Kubota quick detach are SSQA as are many. John Deere I Match are not SSQA, but I believe are offered as an option.

I don't know about the price or that model Case, but owned a Case and now buy Kubota. The 3540 is a really nice tractor.
