I just bought a Kubota L295DT about 3 hours ago. It has a few small issues to address that won't be too difficult to fix, but there is one that has me puzzled. The 3 point raises and lowers OK but when you release the lever it falls back down and then of course the hitch does the same. There is no tension on the lever to keep it in place. On other tractors I have used there would be a small bolt going through the lever and then through the arc shaped guide. On that bolt there would be a spring and a couple of friction washers that would hold the lever where ever you wanted it. There is no hole in the lever for this bolt. Any ideas on what would cause this?

Attached is a picture.

It's just a guess without being able to put my eyeballs right on it, but I would think that in the absence of the mechanism you mention, the mounting for the lever would have some type of tensioner built into it that has failed. Look at what's holding that lever on and see if there isn't some type of adjusting mechaninsm there. I would almost think it would have a large spring tensioner of some sort. If not, then it must be internal.

I don't have a Kubota yet , but is it possible the friction disc is on lever shaft itself? That's how one of my tractors are set up.

Tractors4u, I would think that the slot where the guide is would or should have a either a threaded screw and nut or pin with a washer and a coil spring the cotter pin on the shaft to place resistance against the inside of the lever and guide.

If there is no pin or screw on the slotted side of the lever you could drill a small hole in the lever at the same level as the slotted guide and run a small diameter double nutted screw to the lever with a coil spring between two washers on the inside of the slotted guide causing the friction needed to hold lever in place ,which can be fine tuned to your desired amount of resistance .... By using the proper spring or how tight you make the spring against the guide

Hopefully you can picture what I'm trying to say /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I figured it out. I feel kind of dumb for not noticing right off. I guess with the excitement of adding a tractor to the stable I overlooked it. MMM hit the nail on the head with his suggestion. I was looking closer today and noticed where the lever attaches to the shaft and then the shaft goes into the rear housing there is 2 nuts and what appears to be a friction washer. I loosened the outer nut and adjusted the inner nut in a little and then retightened the outer nut. It lifts and holds now.
