Thanks to everyone that shares their knowledge on here. After 2.5 years of reading on tractors I am about ready to buy my first one. I checked out the Yanmar LX4100 and it was too big for my needs...also seemed a little jerky. Also looked at the Kubota MX5100, but it was about the same size and I have a lot of trees on my property(5 acres with some hills). I want something that gets into tighter spots, but still has some power. I am really focused on a L3800 and think it will do just about everything I need. Here are the specs:

- 2013 (no phase 4 emmissions) L3800 HST 4x4, R4 tires ($21.2K)
- LA524 Loader, L2256 66" QA bucket (included)
- BH77 Backhoe & sub-frame, 16" bucket, mechanical thumb ($8.4K)

Rebate of $1.5K. Total before taxes and fees is $29.6K. Does this sound like a decent deal? Don't think I need any remotes. Should I get a stabilizer kit for the BH or anything else I might have over looked? Please let me know. Thanks!

Last month I was quoted 20400 for an L38 HST with R4 tires and a loader. 750 for 1 remote and 7850 for the backhoe. I didn't shop around to get any comparable prices from other dealers so I don't know if that was good or bad. I did get some much better prices on LS, TYM and Kioti all in the same 35 to 38 HP range. In the end I took home the Kioti DK 40 HST with backhoe for less than the Kabota would have cost me. The TYM and the LS would have been a bit less money but I was most comfortable on and felt the DK40 was best suited to my needs

Thanks for the info. This was my 2nd quote. I was pretty surprised that the first dealer I went to couldn't even come close to the 2nd quote and was still $1500 over...I mentioned names (maybe a mistake on my part, but I don't BS around) and they know of each other so I'm not sure if they are in cahoots. Too bad on the first dealer since they are close and I would have kept taking my business there.

Maybe prices are higher in this region...I am always surprised when I see how cheap tractors go for in the midwest and down south. I don't think they sell the same volume here as in PA so maybe that is a factor, but I think I need to do some more shopping around and take a look at Kioti too.

I was chasing one in Vermont for the last month and then some. Got a deal going but they never could come through and find a shuttle for me. I wouldn't mind much if they had just told me that but kept me waiting then sprung the new model no choice thing on me and at the last minute the " oh well there is the", I finished his sentence , the $3000 more thing right? Like I said it wouldn't have mattered to me if I didn't have to chase the sales guy but ****, if you can't do it just say so. It's not too much to as This went on for a month looking for a 2013 and I had to keep calling the guy to find out what was going on. Needless to say I am done with Kubota. I can do a similar deal with Massey down the road for a better machine (1736 Premium) with a hoe for the same price under their Equine Incentive Program. I haven't done the deal yet but as of now am actively pursuing it to see if it works out.
