I am considering whether to buy the BH90 backhoe for the new L3830 that I own. Is this tractor too small for this hoe? I am a small construction company, not just a homeowner, and I want the hoe for digging out for manholes and cutting trenches for water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer lines. I think I would also need to attach the hoe to this tractor with a support structure, which must also be purchased separately? Any input appreciated.

The BH90 is the right size for a L3830...
I have it on my newish L3130...
The backhoe does require an additional support frame that attaches to the tractor's frame... it's provides an absolutely solid attachment of the backhoe...
The BH90 is very easy to detach and re-attach by 1 person...
The 3-point-hitch has to be removed before attaching the hoe... this add a few minutes of time...
I considered an equivalent Woods brand backhoe that mounts with the 3-point-hitch in place... I discounted it...
...the Woods hoe extends out farther from the tractor... moving the weight further back and making it more likely to bottom out when going up an incline... like loading onto a trailer...
The BH90 is closer to the tractor... and should have a better resale value on a Kubota tractor than a Woods...

Recently I was at my dealer's and noticed an L series (forget which one, maybe a 3230) with a woods backhoe on it.
I asked why not a BH90, and the dealer said the guy wanted a woods...I asked how much he saved by going with the woods...I think it was a little smaller than the BH90, and the dealer said lets take a look and see...the savings was only a few hundred dollars (like about 300).
Apparently the guy did not feel he needed the larger BH90...all I could see was an image of him in the future saying "I wish I didn't know know what I didn't know then..." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
There is no doubt in my mind that the 3830 will handle the BH90 very well. I would buy nothing less...
