Side note, this was a nearly new (very low hours) unit from the rental place. Maybe the brakes had some issues....I don't know but they really sucked and it really took all my strength to keep them applied so the machine would not free-wheel again.

I believe something must have been wrong with your brakes. On my L35 I can bog the engine down pretty hard by applying the brakes. Stopping while rolling, etc is not an issue, but I hear your concern/fear! That would be a scary situation to be in.

As for a decision, right now I'm waiting to see if my L35 will sell or not. I can't afford a M59 without selling it first.

Yes, that M59 thread is a long one isn't it? Congratulaitions on working your way through it. I don't think of it as being a closed thread.... just nothing much new to report. I used mine all day yesterday finishing up a driveway, pulling trees out of the creek, and building a ditch.
The side exhaust still sucks, and I still haven't built a vertical stack for it.

How does the L35 do on your 90 acres? For most projects building on a few acres and a barn I think the L39 would be sufficient, but when you start to talk about 90 acres, piles of rocks, 80 acres of trees, plus several ponds, I'm thinking you are one who could probably use the larger machine. But if the L35 you have now is doing suffient work then maybe not.

BTW, I'm serious about the weight of that CatII 3pt equipment. It's heavy iron.

The L35 gets most of the things I want to done, just slowly. Some things I just can't do like I would like to, or I have to get creative. For example, I just got done ripping out a 30' "wall" of stones. I constantly had to take smaller bites 'cause the loader could not handle a full load... of course I also have a heavy skid steer bucket on, but every load was at or near the loaders limit.. LOT of trips! All in all I'm amazed what this little machine can do. I can only imagine what I could do with a larger, more capable machine. If this works out, I might find out as we are discussing putting in a 'natural swimming pool' aka a pond that is built to stay clear and swimmable. I would be trying to use the M59 to do most of the work to help justify the purchase!

Unfortunately, at the moment my poor little L35 is out of commission. I finally tore apart the front end to replace the oil seal as the leak had gotten to the annoying level. After tearing it all apart and cleaning things up, I find that the tractor supply store sent me the wrong seal! Now I have to wait until tomorrow to call them, get the new part ordered and wait for that to arrive... all while having a tractor sitting here without a wheel on -- bah!
