My 2006 L3940 levers for GST and shuttle shift getting sticky. I have used WD40 and it restores smoothness but only for a week or so.

What do you guys recommend for a longer-lasting solution or is there a more serious problem lurking?

I use wd40 for a lot of things, but it's not really designed as a lubricant, and certainly not long lasting. Maybe try a spray type grease or chain lube. Motorcycle chain lube stays put and lubricates well.

Take a look at what the levers are moving. When I looked at the Kubota M59 loader levers I expected to see a lot of mechanical linkage that I could lube, but what I found instead was a maze of stranded cables in covers - like bike or motorcycle cables. Those take a completely different type of lube strategy if you want to do them right.

BTW, getting the knobs off of the levers so I could get down to the pivots took some thought. The rubber knobs are pressed on, but mine hadn't ever been taken off. Heat helps and I even considered cutting them off, but here is what worke. I've had them on and off several times now.

If you take any panels off, I recommend extending the wiring to all electric controls. Kubota is really stingy with wire, and only uses just enough to slip a child-size hand underneath to disconnect the fasteners. Adding a few inches of wire leads throughout turns a hassle job into a pleasure.

What Rj said wd40 works well for cleaning a surface but not a lubricate. try some spray lube light grease that will stick to the surface
