Talked to the dealer today . My hyd thumb is in been waiting since September , Thought I could get a deal they're picking it up to put the thumb on 785.00 for a 50 hour service  I asked what they do, change oil, oil filter OK, fuel filter and air filter only 50 hours and two tanks of fuel :confused3: hyd filter and hst check bolts , fan belt and safety switches I guess I will do it myself

Paid about the same for my 50 hr service. Tough to swallow but figured it would help cover me in case something came up before the next service (which I hope to do myself). Mark-up costs of hydro fluid count for a lot of the $$$. I did get a leaky front hydro fitting replaced free while it was there....

I will get the filters and I know kubota engine oil even though they don't make the oil, save my slips and hope for the best

I did my 50 hr. myself.
Bought filters at the dealer, which was kind of a disappointment. I went the parts counter, told the guy I need a "set of filters" for my L47 TLB. He sold me a set of filters, only thing is, he included only one hydraulic filter when you need two.
The only challenge was changing said hydraulic filters. Bought me a mortar mixing tub at Home depot for something like 10 bucks, to drain hydraulic fluid into, then refilled with same fluid. There are other technics used (park on a slope, or use a shopvac) but I like to do it the difficult way. I'd buy a gallon of hydraulic fluid cause you're going to lose some.
I use Delo 400 as I always have a case or two on hand.
Also, I found the outside air filter online for like $20, as opposed to the dealer wanting over $80

Peter, DIY!!! It is satisfying and will save you big bucks plus you will learn a lot about your tractor. It is not hard. No special tools required. Maybe a cheap filter wrench depending... Then the next maintenance or fix will be that much easier... and cheaper! And it doesn't leave your possession and it is on your time!

That's funny I also only was given 1 hdy filter I bought 2.5 gal of sudt2 I have to put my hyd thumb on. Is there a screen in the trans to clean? The parts guy said something about 2 filters odd but only gave me the spin on one and just 1:confused3:

$785 for 50 hr service and all they do is change the engine and a couple of filters??? Yeah, there is other stuff like grease it, check the fan belt and lug nuts, but $785??? I did my 50 hr service and it required that I buy about 5 qts oil and 2 filters. It was much less than $100. It may have taken 2 hrs and most of that was hunting for a filter wrench and taking the waste oil to Walmart. I think you should find the list of things to do and do it yourself. Keep the receipts and document the date and hours on the tractor should you ever have to prove you did the service. Buy a box blade with your savings!!!

Skipper, I like the way you think. I'm going to use that with the wife. Might just get a new attachment.

Good luck Peter. I hope it goes well.

I negotiated first service supplies into the deal when i bought my L4060. They wouldn't have been that expensive though. Took me maybe an hour. Put a shop vac over the hydraulic fill port & nothing comes out when you pull off the filters due to the vacuum. You don't change hydraulic fluid, only the filters.

The recommended filter replacement schedule varies by model. Per the manual, the L47tlb does require both the HST transmission and hydraulic filter to be changed at 50 hours. The grand L60 models only require the HST filter at 50 hours, and then the hydraulic filter is at 400 hours.
