Kubota L5740 HSTC Rear Mower

I'e been using an L5740 to mow fields with and once in a while ill get a large vibration that slowly gets more intense until im forced to shut the machine so i can check everything. Eventually happens is that is stops after shutting the PTO off and then back on. What do you think the problem?

Critter if you are using a rotary cutter (Bush Hog) the blades pivot where they attach to the stump jumper. If the blades do not swing freely one can sometimes get caught and cause a heavy vibration because the mower is out of balance. Often when you restart the PTO it is enough to swing the caught blade back where it should be and all is well.

Check how freely your blades swing and clean out anything that might make them bind.

+1 to Mark's comment. My brush mower went through a period when it would do that frequently but eventually stopped hanging up like that and has been fine ever since. It was particularly prone to hanging up when you'd smack something heavy or solid, like a hump in the ground or a stump, that would pivot a blade out of its normal swing.

Mine actually jammed the two blades together once, it shook a 4000 pound tractor/loader/mower like a dog shaking a rat.

I'd say one of them is very tight on the pivot, and the other is free.

Are running the PTO slow? The blades need to run at rated speed to stay out.

Pretty much what Mark, Chilly and Grandad said. I have had this happen occasionally on all my mowers/tractors. Sometimes powering down then back up will do it and sometimes I shut it down and start it back up.
