Hi folks, I own a b1700, and the loader valve needs replacement, dealers price has too many digits in the price,
has anyone ever swapped this type of valve with an off the shelf unit?
Any servicing ,or pressure settings etc would be helpful also

Why does the valve need to be replaced? In 20+ years as an equipment mechanic I have only replaced a handful of valves. The valve can be swapped with a little research. You have to consider spool spacing, overall dimensions, bolt spacing, you will need to know what the refief valve setting and flow rate on the machine is to get the proper series of valve, you also have to consider how the linkage attaches to the spools. You might get lucky and get the same valve through an aftermarket source or from the manufacturer directly.

Welcome to TBN Rob:D

Surplus Center has a joystick valve that would fit the bill, look here: 9-7401

To set the PRV (pressure relief valve) pressure after installation will require a 0-3000PSI gauge, and SC also sells them for under $20. The only thing left is to identify the type/size of fittings your hoses have so you can get adapters if needed to the new valve.

Hi Brian, The spool for the lift /float and lower bucket is jamming in the float and raise positions. I have replaced several parts ,it's better, but it still binds and causes the bucket to drop abruptly at times.
If there is a a good off the shelf replacement loader valve , I would rather replace the complete unit. The dealers replacement price is $1700.00 plus taxes and installation??? I definitely need help.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Kennyd , Thanks for your info.
I have 7 hoses running to my loader valve, not very common from what I have been told.
Would you have any ideas as to why there is 2 hoses supplying the oil and only one return? This is making my valve selection difficult. If you look at the hose layout you will see the difference from a normal loader set-up.

thanks again

Who is telling you that 7 hoses is uncommon? Whoever it is, you don't want to buy a valve from them anyway, they don't know what they are talking about.

It is called Power Beyond. It is very common especially in the utility tractor market. You have the INLET which usually is the pressure line coming from the pump. Then you have the POWER BEYOND which is the pressure line feeding the next valve in line, typically the 3-pt or top and tilt valve which will also have an inlet and power beyond. Then you have the RETURN which takes the oil that is bypassed when you go over the relief pressure and dumps that fluid back to the reservoir.

I don't know off the top of my head an exact replacement for that valve. You will need to take the measurements I listed and go to a catalog and find something that fits the dimensions. Or find an independent mechanic in your area like me, that knows what he is doing and he can probably do the swap for you. Or take the valve off and take it to a hydraulic shop and see if they can repair that one or find a similar aftermarket replacement for less money.

Brian explained why you have 7 hoses very well so I won't elaborate...and like he said-it is very common.

When you order the valve I linked, also order the "power beyond kit" for it as well-it's listed on the same page as the valve.
