Can someone help? We have a leak in our Kubota BX2230, which was purchased a year and half ago. Our leak is kind of in a weird spot. To get to this little button, you have to lift the seat and look right straight in the middle of the frame. There is a red button and washer. Its leaking from this button/washer. At times it just pours from this button and other times it does not leak at all. We can not take off the washer or the button. You can only push or turn the button. The leak gives off the impression its oil. We have checked all fluids and everything is great. What is this button? How can we get it to stop leaking?

Ah-ha! That little red button is the relief vent. I had a BX23 which leaked from this vent. I first found with when I over-filled the hydraulic fluid. Needed to bring it back down below the top line. That solved the leak, at least mostly.

It still leaked when I mowed a very, very steep incline on my property, then it leaked pretty good. I saved that spot until until the end of each mowing and then stuffed a rag around the vent to prevent the fluid from getting on the ground. The dealer confirmed that it is steeper than the machine specifications and stated that there is not much that he could do about it. It was a pretty bad smell when that fluid got out onto the housing, sticks in your nose for a while.

I had about 50 3" diameter brown spots until I figured this out. I am happy to report that the spots filled in.

Many here had ideas of putting a tube on it to raise the height so it wouldn't leak, I took a quick look and found no easy way to do this, I just used the diaper technique and then solved it entirely with my new B3030.

Thank you very much!!!! We wondered that but could not find anything anywhere and if we took our tractor into the shop, they wouldnt be able to get to it for a week.

Good luck, it is a little frustrating. The one piece of advice I can offer is to be sure that the little white fan blowing on it is all there and to be sure that the fins on the case are clean. Mine where covered with an inch of stuff, when I took the hose to it and cleaned it really well I think that the hydraulic fluid stayed cooler and reduced extend of the problem.

If you haven't, check and be sure it isn't over full. Mine 3400 came that way.
