I’m not sure what part this is, but it is leaking! Front of engine. Connected to steering arms. Steering cylinder? Anyone remove and replace one? Hoping to get by with a rebuild. Looking for any advice regarding taking it out and replacing it.
where is the leak coming from? the hoses? fittings? or the cylinder itself? could be as easy as replacing hoses/fittings, or you need to take it to a hydro shop for repacking.
A hydraulics shop should be able to repack it if that's the case (assuming they can get the seals). If seal kits are available, you might even be able to do it yourself.
Getting the cylinder unit out of the tractor is a project in itself. Then getting it apart is another challenge. Seals are available, both from Kubota or hydraulic supply houses.
The glands are held in with an internal wire ring on each end of the barrel. Seems the preferred method of removing same is to drill a hole though the case in a strategic location so as to provide a means to go in with a small punch (or other tool) and push the end of the wire ring out of it's groove. Then you can work it out and remove the glands. I fought with one for an afternoon once and eventually figured that out. Read somewhere later on that others do it that way as well.
