Kubota M4800

Considering buying kubota M4800 w/loader, 2WD. Dealer quote is 20,200. Good price? I have small acreage and need to scoop manure, bale hay (JD 14T baler), dig post holes, sickle mow, etc. Doea anyone have experience with this tractor with similar uses?

to me yes sounds fair with loader. but I don't own a 4800 I own a 4900 about the same i pull a 8 foot disk and a 10 foot and both are tuff line disks and run a woods 6 foot brush bull so it should do every thing that you are talking about. but I never have used a baler or a sickle with mine so i don't know but it should

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. We bought an M5800 last year at work. That tractor is a hoss! I'm sure you'll be happy!

Bought a M4800 in march. 4 wheel drive , loader box blade and bale forks . Paid 22900.Not sure how much extra the 4 wheel drive was, but it was worth it. i wouldn"t want one without it. it really helps doing loader work. you will love it. if you are going to be lifting heavy loads get the rears loaded.

I agree with MTM1930 - 4wd is a huge improvement over 2wd in almost everything you will do with your tractor. It makes the tractor a more capable tool in your hands. The first time you head downhill and scoop a heavy load into the bucket, and back uphill with it, you'll be hooked on 4wd.

If you are going to put a loader on a tractor you really should go with 4wd. The extra work you'll be able to do when loading and moving material will be worth the extra cost.

Todays tractor are lighter than the 60's vintage ones. 4 wheel drive is a must wth a loader.

I have to agree with the guys recommending 4 wheel drive. Not only will you greatly benefit from it, especially in loader use, but it will be much easier to sell whenever it is time to sell. The market for a 2 wheel drive tractor with a loader is a small and shrinking market.

It is sort of like buying a new car without A/C. You may not really want it, but when you go to sell it, not only will it sell easier, but you will recoup all of what the initial A/C expense was.

The first time you go to scoop manure and the ground is wet you will wish you had gotten 4 wheel drive. Having had 2 tractors with 4 wheel drive I can't imagine ever buying a tractor without 4 wheel drive again.

My M4900SU was delivered in February of this year. With the creeper kit, ROPS, filled rears, tax and 2wd it cost me ~$18,000.

I didn't NEED the 4wd so I stayed with 2wd since I was replacing a vintage Ford 3000 and already have another loader machine for that purpose.

I admit, I was mistaken /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. Don't get me wrong, I love the M4900 but being as light as it is traction is sometimes hard to come by. My 7-foot woods box blade will render forward movement to zero when filled and on loose soil. The rears never stop turning but I just can't go /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif So I've got to drag out the Bobcat for any heavy duty stuff.

Most of what I do is mow and garden with the M4900 and in this regard, it is a perfect machine - for not having a cab, that is.

I looked hard at the 4800 but the small price difference for syncro gearing is well worth it!!! Drive them both and I think you'll agree.
