Ok Another Post to Help decide Which tractor, Had a dealer Kubota quote me a 3pt woods backhoe in the deal and it's not a bad price. But as i told him i worry about the 3pt backhoe and would rather have a subframe. He stated i wouldn't need it on a M5660 due to size and weight? any thoughts. I know all about the 3pt vs subframe and know the subframe better by far, but is he right... is the tractor big enough to handle the 3pt hoe with no issues?

Subframe is so much nicer due to the fact of being mounted solid to the tractor, 3 points move around a bit.

I don't know what size Woods 3pt BH you are considering. But I can tell you I had a older model Woods BH75 3pt hitch backhoe on my Kubota L4200 which I used without a problem for 20 years. The backhoe came with a rigid top link to use in place of the standard Kubota top link. And with everything adjusted right, there is little movement in the 3pt hitch once all is attached. Granted, not as sturdy as a frame mounted backhoe.

Now after owning a frame mounted backhoe, I find it to be much easier to attach and detach.

Thats my thoughts also.....by the way i am getting a 4500 price on the 3pt and a 14,000 price to subframe mount a kubota to it????

I could see where that would be a tough decision due to the difference in price. All that I can add it that a subframe mounted Kubota backhoe will out dig a Woods 3pt backhoe hands down. The difference is like night and day.

I would say it all boils down to how much use you think you will have for the backhoe and what you intend to be digging with it. I would check different Kubota dealers to see how their prices compare for a Kubota backhoe complete with subframe.

Both, this comment and my previous comment are from my actual real life experience with both 3pt and subframe mount backhoes, not just an armchair opinion.

I would not own a 3 point backhoe. Too much stress in every which direction when working it. 3 points are meant more for one or two dimensional loads.

Totally understand, and had never even considered one due to the stresses it puts on a tractor without a sub-frame. But in my tractor pricing adventures he threw that out there and it sounded great until i saw it.....I have already dismissed it as an option.....it needs a cylinder repacked and a few other odds and ends....he said it came off a smaller tractor sold new last year, but whoever had it didn't take care of it...and they beat the thing up pretty good (i don't know how )........ then he said owner put it up with him on consignment and the owner had got a small excavator instead........AHH-HA now the picture is getting clear for me......and the search for me continues......
