Maybe you have a closed center log splitter valve on the log splitter.
Tractor data says your JD 4320 is a closed center hyd system, so the splitter is probably set up for a closed center hyd system.
Open center hyd system need a path to tank at all times. You can not block the flow.
To check if it is a closed center log splitter valve, remove the OUT hose from the tank and place in the filler hole and start the engine and operate the log splitter.
When the valve lever goes back to neutral, no fluid will flow from the OUT port.
How to fix it? Purchase a $60 open center log splitter valve and replace your current valve.
