Kubota M9000
So my father recently bought a kubota m9000 4wd tractor with front end loader. I understand it's shuttle shift with 4 forward and reverse gears. I was wondering is the shifting just like smaller kubotas? Can you start in say gear 4, instead of starting in 1st and working up to 4? I have run a 54hp kubota before, and the trans allowed me to start in any type of gear as long as I clutched correctly. and for a bush hog, what RPM's should I run? and what gear as well? thanks!!!!!!!!!

Somethings you will be the best to answer like mowing speed! Rpm's should be kept high enough to get a good cut normally about 2/3rds to 3/4 throttle. The four speed is shiftable but the range is not meant to do while moving.

IF the tractor has a synchronized transmission you can shift on the go like a car. You can start in any gear. if you have several ranges in the transmission, they may not be synchronized so you have to have the tractor stopped to change ranges. My NH TD95D has four synchronized speeds with three unsynchronized ranges and the fwd/rev mechanical shuttle.

The hog is designed to run at 540 pto rpm but you can run it anywhere below that as long as you get a good cut.

I'd advise you to get an owners manual for your tractor so you can learn how to run that specific machine correctly. you can often find them on ebayor your dealer can get one for you. they're probably around $20 and they are a vwery good investment.

so theres a main gear shift, a secondary for the fast and slow speed, and the shift for forward and reverse. how would you shift? start off with the primary, than go into forward, than into speed shift? manual isnt very helpful at all

It doesn't matter the order in which you select hi/lo (range), 1/2/3/4 (gear), forward/reverse. I usually select the range, then the gear and the the direction of travel.

As mentioned earlier you must be stopped to shift between high and low.

You can change gear while moving and may start out in any gear you wish as long as it will pull out without stalling the engine or slipping the clutch.

This tractor has a mechanical shuttle. I'm pretty sure you can switch between forward and reverse before you stop completely just be sure you are stopped before you let the clutch back out again.
