Kubota Maintenance - Most Common Tools

Have a BX2660 and would like to know what the most common tools are for normal maintenance. Specifically, I'd like to know what size range of wrenches would be needed. All my stuff is SAE and I'd like to buy just one metric set (instead of 3) if possible.
Would also be interested in knowing of any other "must have" tools. I have most "normal" tools but wasn't sure if there was something particularly helpful for doing the 50 or 200 hr service.

A gift certificate might be forthcoming since I've been an excellent kid in 2009.

The most common tools needed will be a set of open and box metric wrenches, they will be used most. Also a set of metric sockets, they can be bought in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or 1" sizes, I like the 1/2" drive as they will do most jobs. You also might want a few different types of oil filter wrenches, check your clearance on your tractor for type. also set of metric Allen wrenches, for set screws. And If you have a air compressor, buy a pneumatic grease gun, as you'll have many fittings to greased. Good luck, the BX series are great tractors.

Nowadays, if you're going to be doing much work on just about anything mechanical you'll have to bite the bullet and start accumulating metric tools in every form. I've gotten metric sockets for 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive, a couple sets of metric combination wrenches, and a metric allen wrench set.
I think that if you already have a good set of regular wrenches, adding the above should get you in the ballbark.

The largest nut I have encountered is the one to remove the screen on the hydraulics (24mm? or larger). That one probably varies from tractor to tractor. Get yourself one of those $1 calipers and measure up what you can see. I'm thinking most other nuts are in the 10mm to 17mm range.

Connor, for what it's worth, be careful when you tighten the oil plug, hydro drain plugs, etc. On my B3030 I over-tightened the hydro fluid drain plug and stripped it out. The trans case is made of cast aluminum (a big disappointment). I was able to repair it with ahttp://www.timesert.com/ kit but was not happy with the cheap aluminum case. Never had a problem in over 20 years with my B6200 or B1550. Just be careful!

Pick up a Craftsman starter kit with metric & SAE wrenches and sockets.
8-18mm covers most things. There are some bolts in the 20mm range, but pick them up as you need them. An adjustable filter socket is a must. I have a Snap-On that you attach to a 1/2" ratchet and it adjusts itself to the filter as you turn it..Craftsman has a version of this as well.

My dad told me when I got my first job that I had to buy at least one tool every payday, no matter what. Guess what my garage looks like 25 years later?
