Wanted to let fellow
MGX owners know about a problem I just had. I bought a new MGX135 this year. I love it. All maintenance was done, including the $600 50 hour service. At about 200 hours a whine developed while pulling a 14' offset disk. My dealer is awesome. They listened to the whine and came and picked up my tractor(including dropping off a loaner). Turns out a gear had missed the hardening process and failed. They took the whole thing apart, replaced everything that could have been affected by the gear. Just got it back and so far do good. I love this tractor. We do hay, but I've plowed, disked, sprayed, and mowed with it. It's always worked great. My advice is listen to your tractor, if you hear anything out of the normal get it checked out.

May I ask how rough the shifts are on your transmission? I have close to 200 hours on mine with about 60% high drawbar plowing and disking. I have not noticed a transmission whine but my power shifts are very abrupt and I am concerned about power train stress. Does yours shift like that? Do you know which gear missed the heat treat - if one missed it it's likely a whole batch was missed. Most of my high load work is M4, M5, & M6.

My shifts are very abrupt. I temper that by shifting at a lower RPM, then generally don't notice it. I don't know which gear it was, but I'm working in the same ranges as you. I don't think the gear was specific to a speed gear. They said it was in a planetary and you could hear it when ever the tractor moved, fwd or rwd.

Thanks for the feedback. Messicks said on here there is a way to tweak the computer to smooth shifts but my dealer hasn't been able to find anybody at Kubota who can tell him about it. I use auto shift and most sensitive so the shifts I am concerned about are downshifts under heavy pull but I'm told it's supposed to take it. Other than that concern I love the tractor.

How many hours do you have on it now?
