Japanese engine and equipment manufacturer Kubota has announced its plan to build its first European agricultural tractor facility, the British Farmers Weekly has reported. Work on the site near Dunkerque, France, is scheduled to begin in December of next year, with production to commence by April 2015.
According to the report, Kubota is investing €40 million on the development and capacity of the site will be approximately 3000 units per year. The facility will build mostly 130 to 170 hp tractors.
Curious as to further information about larger power Kubota tractors. The production date here does coincide with Tier IV final / Stage 4. It would therefore appear that Kubota may have had a strategy only to do a moderate update for Tier IV interim / Stage 3B, then introduce more refined product for the major stage. Coincidence that the plant being built is not that far from the AGCO plant in Beauvais, France? 3,000 is not a lot of tractors. Still this is the first Kubota series above 135 HP.
