I recently purchased a used mx51 Kubota & I need help with the following:
1. Regarding implements - what category is this tractor?
2. Any suggestions on aftermarket quick attachments?
3. How can I make the sloppy or loose connection to my 6 ft Montana cutter tighter?

For #1, it should be same as my L5240. it's a cat 2 or cat 1. You must use bushings for cat 1. The top link has a cat 1 attachment to the tractor but the end of the top link should be a cat 2.

As mentioned above it's a cat 2. They call it a cat 1 and 2, whatever that means. Just like any category 2 tractor you can run category 1 stuff by using bushings.

Can't help with the quick disconnect, as I've never used one, but if you get one and want to trade your telescoping arms for my non-telescoping ones and $100 let me know.

Regarding the bush hog, where's the slop? If the pins are loose in the holes, use the cat 2 to cat 1 bushings. If the hog swings side to side, adjust the turnbuckles. Otherwise, show us some pics so we know what you're talking about.

Good luck

Any suggestions on aftermarket quick attachments? Speeco, Land Pride, Imatch, Harbor Freight.

3. How can I make the sloppy or loose connection to my 6 ft Montana cutter tighter? Guessing cat 1-cat 2 bushings.

Pictures and a better description of what is loose will help with a diagnosis. ;)

First and most importantly - Is it a MX5100? (don't know of a MX51 but that does not mean much) Should have the number down the side of the hood and on the serial number plate which is on the frame of the tractor.
The 5100 has solid telescoping links and no turn buckles so you just set the pins in tight and you should have no major (maybe an inch) of slop with any implement.
You can run Cat 1 or Cat 2 implements with no problem. I personally have a mixture of both.
As for a quick attach - with the telescoping arms it is really pretty easy to switch implements but if you decide you want a quick hitch "PATS" makes a simple set that works great as well as the others mentioned.

Thank you very much!
