Are you sure you need / want the HST? I went with the 5100 with gear drive shuttle, and I love it. Tons of power. Also... load up the rears and think about wheel weights, I put 600 lbs on mine; turned it into a tank...

I'm not certain what your rotary mower needs are, but I would consider a more heavy duty series. The 12 series is the most economical light duty one Landpride makes. I have the 26 series and very glad that I do when encountering any brush or small saplings. I'm all for saving money, but there's no substitute for metal thickness, extra bracing and larger gear boxes for longevity, even if most of your mowing is light duty.

I absolutely agree. For me the cutoff for a 12 series LP rotary cutter is an L3901. Anything larger should tote an 18 series at least.
