KUBOTA OR JD

Looking for a mower, narrowed it down to a JD X300 or a T2080 Kubota. Anyone had experiences with these mowers? I like the quite Kawasaki engine on the JD, but the Kubota looks alittle beefier. They both are 2 cyl and the Kubota is powered by a Kohler 20 hp engine.

I bought a X540 last summer, I picked it over the Kubota due to bad reviews? I have had to have the battery replaced and the stickers seem to have a had a hard time staying on. That being said, it is nice tractor compared to the craftsman it replaced. The only thing I wish was different was the reverse while cutting procedure. I know this is not the same model but I hope it helps?

That's a hard choice. Both are very capable of mowing your lawn for a lot of years. You would be hard pressed to find anything else out there that has the quality of those two mowers for the cost. You probably should make your decision on price, dealer satisfaction or color preference. I've looked at both (a lot) and honestly couldn't say which I would preferr. I have a 2002 JD LX266 mower and a 2007 Kubota L2800 tractor so can't really say I like one brand over the other. I'm sure if I were shoppping for a mower I'd have a hard time deciding which one also. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but those two mowers are that good and that close in quality. Don't get hung up on engine manufacturer, either one will last as long and work as well as the other.

I haven't seen the bad reviews that you are talking about. I do remember with a prior model that was refered to as a commercial lawn tractor that wasn't fair to have in with other lawn tractors that were tested.

I was speaking of reviews like these, I can not remember the exact model either (it was the same price range as the X540 but 4x4 and diesel 21hp?). The problems were transmission related and I was recently told by my kubota dealer that they have been resolved? Figures, I would have rather had a kubota over the JD because of preference.

You're referring to the GR series.
