Kubota RTV 900
I cant seem to find out how much Super UDT to order for my first fluid service.
Does anyone here know how much I will need and how to change it.
Also any help on the other fluids would be nice.
I am new to the RTV world just picked up a used 2012 RTV 900 with 432 hours on it, and I am wanting to service the unit.
I have ordered the filters from my local auto parts store but they don't have any idea about the Hydro.

My RTV 900 is a 2009 model, but I think the fluid capacities should be the same.

engine (with filter change) - 3.1 L API CD, CE or CF

I haven't had any issues with Kubota's UDT fluid.

transmission -- 10 L
front axle case -- 0.6 L
knuckle case -- 0.15 L
hydraulic lift -- 8 L
power steering -- 5.9 L

Steve

PS -- Are you in Commerce, GA?

Dumb Question, but where and how do I change the VHT fluid?
I bought all filters and 3 gallons of kubota sudt2 fluid.
Can the power steering take normal car fluid or does it take the sudt2 also?

First, you should order a copy of the owner's manual.

Assuming no changes between the 2009 and 2012 models, the transmission drain plug is recessed in a shield at the bottom of the transmission case. The manual says that after you change the transmission fluid you should run the engine at medium speed for a few minutes before operating the vehicle.

The manual calls for UDT or SUDT when changing the power steering fluid.

I changed all of the fluid yesterday which wasn't to hard. I noticed when draining the Trans the old fluid was thick, a lot thicker than the SUDT that I bought from Kubota. I had a spill when the funnel moved while i was pouring the fluid in, so after I topped off all of the oils, I ran the machine a few minuets. I decided to clean the spill so I took engine degreaser and sprayed it on the trans and engine then took my water hose and rinsed it off. I then tried to start up the RTV, nothing, unit would not start, Lights, and horn worked but it would not start, no click from the starter. So i thought maybe a dead battery so I tried jumper cables but still no start. Well after checking all fuses and connectors, I gave up and went inside to play with the baby for a few. After about 2 hours I came back out side and the ATV fired right up, I tried several times starting it up and it has been working but I am afraid to take it trail riding or off very far because I don't know if it will do this again. I have been reading about this issue on several searches and some people say starter, neutral switch etc. From day one with this rtv I can start the unit in gear so is there a way to test the neutral switch or by pass it if its the issue.

I would not use UDT in a VHT hydro unit.

Putting SUDT in my L3130GST even changed shifting after the 50 hour service.

David

Both dealers here use UDT for the RTV's. My RTV is a 2013 has not had any issues plus the manual says its ok. I also use UDT in my L3130GST with no issues (UDT is called for in the manual).

SUDT is just more expensive with no benefit that I can see in these machines.

Se of those 900's had relief valve issues in the transaxle. In case of doubt firmly press the brake pedal to relieve pressure instead of yanking harder on the shifters and ruining the cables.
Some of those units had the drive train relief valve set high to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards if the operator stops while traveling hill. A roll over would occur if the vehicle brakes were suddenly applied or throttle applied while rolling back wards.
The vehicle would however almost slide the unsuspecting occupants forward off the seats if the throttle pedal was suddenly lifted.
There is a backyard calibration change of the relief valve or replacement of the valve.
The sudden "chuck" on the drive train would also ruin the rear U-joints , drive shaft and front constant velocity joints . Have a look for wear.
