Oil & Fuel Kubota RTV900 What is the plastic tank under the seat?

I have a Kubota RTV900 model T5 with the auxiliary hydraulic valve assembly. There are two plastic tanks under the seat. One is obviously a radiator overflow tank. The other appears to hold hydraulic oil. My neighbor borrowed the RTV and added antifreeze to the plastic oil tank under the seat rather than the radiator. Which I am not happy about! I need to flush out whatever system that tank services, but the owners manual does not address that tank and what it is for. Could it be for the power steering? If so, what is the proper way to flush it?

If it is like my new RTVX900, my dealer said that was for power steering and your hydraulic lift, my dealer had to order my manual, but I am pretty sure that is what it is for. I wouldn't drive it you don't want that anti freeze in your system destroying all of your seals in the system.

It is for the power steering. Antifreeze will destroy the whole system so I would not operate it until it is thoroughly flushed. The hydraulic tank is at the back of the machine.

Thanks for the info. Mine is around a 2006 model and it only has the steel Auxilary oil tank on the right side and this plastic tank under the seat. There does not appear to be any tank in the rear on this one. Fortunately, I got the machine back right after he put the antifreeze in, so it only ran a few miles before I discovered the problem. I have drained the tank by disconnecting the hose and plan to fill it with Hyd oil, run it for a few hours, drain it again, and refill the tank.

I found that the top of the seating surface in the radiator neck had deteriorated allowing the cap to leak and all the antifreeze to boil out while he was using it for an extended loan. So it overheated and thats when he added antifreeze to the plastic tank. It looks like it is going to need a new radiator as well

Do you know if the bed hydraulic ram is run off of this system as well?

Ktmxr: The tank you are speaking of is the resivior for the power steering. I made a similar mistake and added water to the powersteering tank. The manual calls for this tank to be filled with UDT. You will know if there is water cantamination of this fluid if it is mikly instead of clear. In my case I drained all the fluid from the ststem by disconecting the poowerstearing hose as it leaves the pump. I must have filled/run/drained the system 10 times. I each case I only added about 12 oz of UDT untill it ran clear
