Ok this may sound odd but it's worked twice....both times like a champ.To make a long story short the stuff works mint the the cars power steering system. Now I know you're thinking duh...it's hyd fluid, but that's not it. My wife van was leaking like a Pig...I mean really bad...and she insisted on going out one night. Well the super udt was all I had around so I said what the hell, I've got to change the pump anyhow and put some in.....And It hasn't leaked since.....she was filling the thing every other day and it totaly quit leaking. The other day I noticed my grand am was leaking and it was out of fluid....added some super udt and no more leak. The stuff must have some excellent seal conditioners in it cause **** it works mint. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pigs don't "leak". They do smell though, especially their poop.

Brake fluid, just a little, works too. Swells the seals up. As far as SUDT not being compatible with ATF, SUDT is a synthetic blend so you might just be having some sort of reaction with the petroleum based ATF causing the seals to swell just like the brake fluid would do.

The truth will be in a couple of days, weeks , months or years when the seals are gone. They do have additives to swell up the seals in a pump to stop them from leaking.

Power steering on a car is a hydraulic apparatus. I imagine that automakers use ATF as hydraulic fluid is not as readily available.

Heavy truck manufacturers, most notably Freightliner are using regular multi grade motor oil in their power steering units.

I commented on this to a friend last evening that is a service manager for a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership. He told me that the cars have become so specialized in the fluids that the technicians have to check a chart of years and models before doing differential fluid changes. Said that it is driving the parts guys nuts with all the different ones that they now have to stock... Looks like we have it easy with our tractors...
