On a tracked machine theres an adjustment on the Excavator theres a pocket on the outer side of the the trackframe a few inches back from the track Idler. THere should be a bolt head with an alemite grease fitting and it should be let off about 1/4 turn. this letst the grease in the hydraulic track adjuster come out and the track should go slack. Then swing around over the side and push down al lift that side of the excavator up and watch the slack. Then useing the travle controll waljk that side around it should walk back on the trac kis its only partly off. If itas all the way off you need to get some freinds to get it as far on as you can then walk it on. To retighten the track ad a few shot of grease then walk it forwads and backwards 10 or so feet then check the slack. if you tighten it all the way up and its still in the air it will over tighen the track so you have to do it in steps. Its the same for a Mini excavator all the way up to a D9. Wish you you luck.
