Today, I saw a Kubota walk behind lawn mower at my dealer.

It had a 179CC recoil start Kawasaki engine with a replaceable oil filter, cast aluminum deck, and three speed transmission for the RWD. Truly a premium unit aside from the recoil start.

It had been special ordered for a customer. The salesman told me that the retail price was over $1,400. Buyer paid closer to $1,300.

Wow!

Nice lawn mower but who pays $1,300 for a walk behind lawn mower?

21 or 22 inch.

Your basic big box store walk behind but a deluxe model.

Not sure I would pay that much but I never really liked the cub that I bought in a pinch. My ideal would be a walk behind with a Honda GX on it.

I have been extremely happy with my Honda 21 or 22in HRX with easy start coil pull. Eleven years and starts the same as new. Never been serviced except an oil change or two. Guess I should do that again... can't remember the last time!

I have had my W5021 for over 22 years, bought it used so not sure how old it actually is.
Was kind of excited to see Kubota bringing back the trim mowers and apparently doing it right.

I'll have to say I haven't seen the new one in person but looking at the brochure it appears to even have improvements over mine. I've used both high end Honda's and my Kubota and have to say personally the Kubota wins overall.

As for price, a decent Honda its almost $900 and I can say from experience they don't hold up that well to commercial use. NCM_0639.JPG
