I just purchased a Kubota ZD21 runs great but every once in awhile it looses power, I pulled the tank, cleaned out totally, replaced all fuel lines, still having problem, I noticed today the fuel filter after the fuel pump is only 1/4 full, I tried to bleed it, removed hose and shifted filter in different positions to try to remove air, n/g. I then tested fuel pump pressure, I have 1 psi pressure, I will recheck tomorrow when I remove the fuel filter before the pump, to see if it could be blocked. Any idea what the fuel pressure should be.

Good machine, I haven't had a fuel problem with my ZD21, but the fuel system is very similar to the BX2200 and every time it acts like yours does, it has been the filter between the tank and fuel pump, it seems to catch all the trash. I use Fram G12 filters, they're cheap and the same size as the original filters. One other note on the ZD21, when I bought mine used, the dealer stressed that I keep the hydro fluid above the full mark, all the way to the top of the flat part of the dipstick. Some of the early ones had trans problems from lack of oil when running on slopes, but overfilling the hydro will take care of the problem. Hope you're enjoying the machine as much as I am mine.
I don't know the fuel pressure, but it is only a transfer pump to get the fuel to the injector pump so I wouldn't think the pressure would be very high, I would think that if the electric pump goes bad, it just stops running so if you can hear it when the key is on, I'd say it's doing it's job.

Update: Removed filter that was between fuel pump and tank,no fuel just small stream, used shop air, blew back in fuel line that runs to tank, fuel pick up tube had something blocking it, retested fuel pump, volume great, pressure 3lbs, and vacuum 6", runs great. Going to run it until fuel is low and will pull tank one more time.

Pulled tank, nothing in tank??? blow air in pick up tube, tube was blocked, sock that goes on the end of pick up tube came apart and got sucked up in pick up tube. Reassembled, runs better than ever!

I had the same problem. :confused2:Recently purchased used zd21 with 1500 hours. Darn thing ran good sometimes and other times (particularly on hills) stalled out etc. Sometimes under any load at all it acted like it was fuel starved. So I read a lot on line... especially this site and acted. In the end I pulled the tank and pulled the fuel tube out of the fuel tank. I blew into the tube and could barely get any air through it. I really had to bang on the tube, used gumout, then pushed a wire through it and out popped a wad of garbage. All back together... runs like a scalded dog. Thanks for all those who wrote about their issues before I had to go to work on mine.
