Not a tractor, but I have a ZD28 with the 72" pro deck that has a little over 60 hrs. The left drive motor always seemed a little weaker than the right, but I attributed it to the inaccurate adjustment of the control arm. Over the weekend, the left drive motor began losing power and the more forward you pushed the control arm, the worse it would get.

The loss of power is accompanied by a loud noise which sounds like hydralic fluid escaping past a valve with alot of turbulance. Pull the control arm back some and you regain some power and the noise stops but you do not regain enough power to keep up with the right motor if you have any speed. If you are on a hill and need to turn up the hill using the left motor, it flat will not move the machine without help from the right motor.

Oil is full, filter changed about 10 hrs ago. Any ideas before I have to load the mower up and take it to the dealer??

Thanks
Scott

On mine, the nut that attaches the swivel to the control arm shaft loosened up after 15-20 hours or so. Did exactly the same except for the noise thing. I got lucky and noticed it just as I was loading to go to the dealer. It's been over a year so it's a little hazy now, but I think I went to the hardware store and got some locknuts.

I have 175 hours on my ZD28 with 72" deck. If you're lucky that would be something simple like adjusting the control lever connection. Once I had to fine-tune my control levers for easier maneuvering and once I tightened up the bolts because they were a little loose. Nothing major. I never experienced anything even close to what you're talking about with loss of power and noise!!! I would have a very low threshold for taking it to the dealer. In fact, I would have to say definitely take it to the dealer. I assume it's still under warranty. Your problem is more likely than not a transmission problem. If not fixed it could lead to costly problems!

ScottR, I had a similiar issue with my ZD28, 72' deck with only 20 hours. The left drive motor was weaker than the right motor. It would always pull to the right and did not have good power going up a hill. I tried adjusting the control levers several times. I got so frustrated that I traded the machine for the new F series 3680 with a 72" deck. I love the new machine. Let us know how you make-out.

what is the easiest way to get the PTO shaft joints greased... the quick coupler, looks like it is very hard to get too , with my big hands....

Take it to the dealer. Kubota had some issues with the lower ser number units. Kubota extended the Trans Warranty to 4 years instead of 2 on some of those Units. Check with your dealer
