kubotah m4800
USED MY TRACTOR DURING LAST SNOW STORM.. THE FRONT BUCKET HYDRAULICS WORK JUST FINE. I LIFTED UP THE BRUSH HOG AND IT WENT UP ALL THE WAY AND THEN IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED DOWN. NOW IT WILL NOT LIFT AT ALL BUT THE REST OF THE HYDRAULICS WORK FINE. DID I SHEAR A PIN OR WHAT SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR. IT LOOKS PRETTY TIGHT IN THERE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE ANYTHING APART.

1 year old thread so may not get a response. I was wondering if you ever got this problem fixed. I have an M4800 as well so I thought I'd ask just in case it happens to me...

Yes, I too would like to hear what you found. I had a very similar problem with a MF2660 and found an interesting set of knowledge from it ! In my case it was the "draft control" sticking it's ugly head into the picture. Each manufacturer has it's own set of idioscyncracies about how they implement draft control -- some via lower link sensing, some by top link sensing. Your 4800 appears to have had the option of having draft control at all or not. In my case, above some level of 3pt loading the Draft control took over NO MATTER WHAT THE LEVER SETTINGS. In effect the lift control levers in their correct positions for avoiding draft control only de-sensitize it, not preclude it. Thus, above some level of load the 3pt lift just gives in and lowers the attachment. Massey Ferguson actually sells a bypass kit to take the draft control totally out of the picture, which I now have and use. In your case, if you have draft control, it might be that your 4800 also senses too much load and lets the draft control take over. But that is a maybe. First, see if you have draft control at all on the tractor. Second, if you do, find out how it is "sensed." If it is top link, try a chain -- replacing your top link-- to some hardpoint on your tractor rather than to the normal top link attach point. If the 3pt lift works OK no matter the load (within reason) then you know draft sensing was your problem. I would definitely look at these things first before digging into the 3pt hydraulics, etc. where you may cause more trouble than you fix. If yours is lower link sensing for draft control, I have no experience with that flavor.
