kubotas for dummies, year of mfg or purchase date?

just curious, if my bx was manufactured in 2007 and purchased/delivered in 2008, how does one designate what year the tractor is? i'm not sure why i'm asking?!? it beats trying to balance three golf balls on my shrek"belly, button!"

Yep, it can get confusing, but actually I don't guess it's any more confusing that other vehicles. After all, it's still 2008, but lots of places you can buy a new 2009 car or pickup. In late September of 1991, I bought a new 1992 motorhome, but it was on a 1991 Oshkosh chassis with a 1991 Ford engine and transmission. In 1984, I bought a brand new 1982 Honda motorcycle, and also in 1984, my Dad bought a brand new 1982 Chevy Luv pickup truck. Confusing? Yep, sure is.

I'd say if there were no sheetmetal changes between 07 and 08, i'd call your tractor an 08.

Well, if you're concerned about resale.. the only thing that really matters is what the tractor is capable of and how many hours are on it.

Aside from a few incremental changes.. a Kubota model is the same year to year. When there are fundamental changes they change the model number..

When did you quit riding motorcycles; or did you.?

I quit riding in 1988. I rode the Honda Aspencade (Gold Wing) pulling a trailer behind it when I went to the 10 week FBI National Academy at Quantico in 1986. My wife flew up there and rode back with me, but she just never really cared for motorcycles and I sold it. But then I bought the smaller BMW to run around locally on and it was pretty good. But I rode it up to Colorado Springs to visit old friends, then up Pike's Peak on the way home. I sold it when I bought the one ton truck in preparation for retiring and taking up full time RVing. And the last time I renewed my drivers license, I finally dropped the motorcycle endorsement.

If Kubota USA is asked what year a tractor is, they look up the serial number and consider it the year the machine was first sold at retail.
