Kubota\'s is behind on engine oil.

Well i e mailed kubota to ask about the 10w-30 issue in the manuals and this is what i got back:

Thank you for contacting Kubota. To be honest, Kubota
has fallen a bit behind current technology and recent developments in the
field of lubricants. Actually, the recommendations published in our
operator's manuals is in the process of being updated to reflect industry
changes. Using a 15W-40 grade oil should pose no problems as long as it is
a high quality lubricant specified by it's vendor of meeting the
requirements of a compact diesel engine. Your warranty is not affected as
long as a specific engine failure is not the result of the improper
lubricant being used in your application. Seek a reliable vendor who can
provide a solid recommendation of his product. Again, thanks for contacting
Kubota

I love kubota. they responded quick and honestly no bull!
maybe this will help someones else's delema someday. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Kubota\'s is behind on engine oil.

I started using 15-40 diesel oil in my Kubota about 1400 hours ago. The same as goes in my truck.
Hasen't caused any problems that I am aware of.

Re: Kubota\'s is behind on engine oil.

My Kubota L3000DT is ready for an oil change. I've reached the 100 hour mark. I've decided to change oil every 50 hours so this is the second one the first was done by the dealer when the 50 hour service was done. The last oil change was done exactly a year ago so it was time.

I stopped by the local Kubota dealer to pick up a filter and engine oil. I was concerned that if I used other than Kubota oil the warrantee could be questioned should a problem arise. The dealer put 6 quarts of Castroil 15W-40 on the counter which wasn't what the manual recommended.

I would perfer Castroil but questioned their choice to which they replied, this is the oil I should be using and there will be no warrantee issues.

Seems to go along with what you experienced.

Re: Kubota\'s is behind on engine oil.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975, manufacturers cannot tie their warranty to the sale of any other accesory, i.e. they cannot say you must use genuine Kubota brand oil or your warranty is voided. Kubota has not done that to my knowledge, but if they tried to, that would be against the law . /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Here is a description of it (it refers to AMSOIL brand oik in the web page, but of the same applies to any aftermarket brand of oil)

Re: Kubota\'s is behind on engine oil.

another city in my area runs a fleet of kubotas ,cause it's mostly golf courses in a retirement area, and run the delo 400 10w-30 in them.
