Hi folks. I recently posted here about the problems I've had with the used front snowblower I bought when I bought my (new) tractor. It was in poor shape and apparently hadn't even been through the dealer's shop for inspection and basic maintenance. It had been modified, and reassembled incorrectly. It broke soon after I bought it. I fixed it (replaced the main shaft housing)...and soon it broke again in the same way.
I didn't mention the dealer because I wanted to wait and see how they handled it. Well, after it broke the 2nd time (my repair lasted 20 minutes before the housing ripped right off the bolt holes) I took it off and took it back. They reinforced the **** out of the mounting hardware for that shaft housing. Looks like a tank. The whole interaction was very civil. No disrespect on either side. Money was never mentioned until I picked the unit up, and then, when I offered money, they wouldn't take it.
So now that they've come through for me, I thought I'd mention the dealer. Wescott and Sons, Gorham, Maine. It seems to me they made a mistake by selling me a piece of gear they didn't test out first, but they've taken responsibility for this mistake and made it right.
I'm going to have to wait and see how this new repair holds up (they didn't have a tractor prepped for a front blower on the lot, so they didn't test it out--also, they didn't have any snow to try it out on--) but for now I have absolutely no complaints.
