L-235 hydralic oil filter

in Dec, I changed the hydralic oil filter on my Kubota because the FEL and 3pt stopped working..it fixed the problem..now it's doing the same thing...what do I do..change the fluid and the filter or just the filter again..is there an alternate filter I can use rather than the expensive kubota brand..there must be some trash in the system for it to clog the filter so fast..the manual says you can clean the filter,,but I don't see how..help... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think I would change the filter, but you might drain the fluid, let it settle and see if there is anything (large enough to spot), in the bottom of your drain bucket(s). Is the hydraulic fluid getting cloudy or discolored? If everything looks ok, put it back in.

I don’t think you can clean a hydraulic filter. You should not be looking for a cheap filter, you need the best filtering you can put on that pump, and you might get lucky and remove what ever is in your system.
Have you shared any cylinders with anyone? Your containments can only come from outside the system OR inside, something wearing out or breaking down. Good luck hope you get to the source of the problem. KennyV.

Be grateful the filter is clogging, that means it is catching whatever is contaminating the oil.

I would change the oil and filter and maybe strain the old oil through a coffee filter before disposing of it to see what is in it. Also, run a magnet through the old oil and see if you pick up any metal shavings.

Thanks for your reply..I really appreciate it..I rebuilt the cylinders last year and did not change the fluid at that time..maybe some contaminates got in..I will change the oil and filter..
