L 3240 hst 4wd oil leak

hello I suspect I may have a oil leak issue with my front 4wd shaft. I have oil dripping at a constant rate while driving the tractor, the leak comes from the split nut/cotter pin thing located under tractor near clutch/trans housing. The engine oil level stays the same, so engine seal is ok i hope, and transmission seal could be possible source, but trans oil level looks ok, the front axle is always about a 1/4 quart low after driving tractor for a few hours, not sure how a front 4wd shaft oil seal would go bad, about 4oo hours on this 2008 L3240 kubota. is this a fix I could handle myself ,or is it best to bring to shop? I do not have a service manual as of yet , and not sure what is all involved to repair this leak. thanks for any advice. Jim

I had a leak last year in the front of the L3240 HST. It was a hose associated witht the oil cooler. Maybe the fluid is tracking. They have so much stuff plumbed into the front area that I just took it in under warantee.

Is the oil coming from the weep hole? See this post about a L5140 and L3240 with an oil leak from the propeller shaft seal. Replacing the seal involved splitting the tractor.

wow. , exactly my issue I believe. Now the next step, looks to be same generation in parts involved . I will have to split and have a look see, I will keep all posted to what I find.

Had the same problem with my L4240....had to split tractor ....the steel seal has rubber on the inside and another seal behind it....the parts were cheap compared to the super udt that I had to buy...took about an hour and a half to split with a buddy in his shop
