John Deere L120
Hello, I have a L120. It ran fine. Then when I went to cut again and there is a loud popping type noise coming from top of engine (air filter area) it has no speed and when blades are engaged no power. It also started smoking. Any ideas? Thank you

If this has the Briggs Intek style engine pull the valve covers and make sure that all the push rods are present. that engine has a habit of when something blocks the cooling fins on the head it will overheat and the extra heat will allow the valve guide in the head to migrate outward toward the rockers arms which will then interfere with the valve keeper and bend the push rod. The push rod will then migrate down through the oil passage hole into the engine sump.

Sounds like you may be missing the intake push rod on one of the cylinders.

Yes, it's a Briggs Intek. I will check out what you recommended Thank you.
