I have a five year old L130 riding mower with 106 hrs. It was not getting fuel and stalling out. Installed a new fuel filter and the mower ran well for about one hour. Then the same problem started happening again. I loosend the gas cap and a little more fuel went into the filter. Thought it might be the gas cap. After running the mower another ten minutes it started to stall again. The fuel level in the filter went down to 1/4 of the filter then almost none in the filter and it started to stall again.
Any ideas on what the problem might be and any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thank you
Jim

Did you leave the gas cap loose? It sounds like the vent is plugged in the gas cap.

Yes, I did loosen the gas cap and it still seems to have trouble getting fuel.

I know nothing about your particular unit.. perhaps your fuel pump is not doing its job?

I had similar problems with my L130 (2005) and went to NAPA and picked up an electric fuel pump. Turn the key on for 3 seconds to prime and fill bowl then it starts and runs perfect now.

My L118 did the same thing. I took the hose from the fuel filter and filled a cup with gasoline. Put the hose in the cup and watched. Then since it wasnt pumping, i thought i might as well give it a tap with the screw driver before i took it off and went down to Deere to go buy another. Now it seems to work just fine.:D

Thank you all for your suggestions. The fuel pump will be the next thing to be looked at.
Have a great all

This is what I forund when I took my L130 apart. The fuel line just as it passes through the frame near the engine. I put a spring around it before I reinstalled it hopefully it will keep the line open.

I have an L120 and had the same problem. I disconnected the gas line at the fuel filter and blew air back into the tank and it has been running perfectly. I think I had some type of a clog in the line. hen I changed the fuel filter afterwards and it continues to run well.

I had a GT275 doing just about the same thing. I replaced the fuel lines from the tank to the carb and the filter and it was good for a little while and then it started again. Filter bowl was only 1/4 full if that. I could still see air bubbles coming into the filter so I replaced all the old line clamps with real hose clamps you can screw down and she has been running like a champ since. The filter bowl is full now.
